Your Crew…Are They Helping You or Hurting You?

by Corey Beasley

Lots of people think that their success depends on their own effort.

We see and hear stuff all the time like, Work hard...No days off...Embrace the grind.

I understand what they are trying to say, but success takes more than hard work.

Your success depends upon the people you hang out with everyday.

  • If you train with world champions, the odds of you getting better go up.
  • If your friends go out drinking every weekend, it doesn't help you become a better athlete.
  • If your roomates live on fast food and frozen dinners, it makes it more difficult to stay on track.

My point here isn't to point fingers at your friends or make you feel guilty.

All I want you to do is be aware and conscious of the people around you.

Your crew has an enormous influence on you, your habits and your success.

Over the years, I had friends that chewed, drank too much, got hooked on drugs, slept around, ate fast food, didn't train, etc.

Some got fat, others cleaned up and a few have past away.

I want you guys to realize that you have a choice.

You can change.

Find people that lift you up, encourage you to improve, and live they way that you want to.

Seek out coaches that can help you get to that next level.

Get around friends that live healthier lifestyles.

I understand that it can be difficult to change.

Friends get pissed when you stop hanging out, but the courage to change is necessary if you want to improve.

Make good decisions, surround yourself with good people and stay consistent.
